Description
The skull is a powerful symbol in Africa, an ancestor.--
Gabriel Tigere from Zimbabwe did a trip to Canada in the fall of 2016. During his trip we attended a number of gem and mineral shows in Kingston, Ottawa and Ancaster, Ontario. He noticed a large number of crystal skull and thought about the meaning and significance of the skull.
After his return home he commissioned artists from the Chitungwiza Art Centre to create images of an "African Ancestor". The skull in this listing is one of the first iteration of our skull project. We are very pleased with how it came out.
The stone used is opaline with wonderful red iron oxide staining.
